Adaptive Re-Use : Vanguard Self Storage, port chester NY

From onset, on the Crozier Gedney Architects team worked hand in hand with the building owners to mitigate over $1,000,000 in building and fire department violations cause by layers of previous owners. Once the home of the Empire Brush Factory, the condemned office building stood vacant for quite some time. The client's goal was to utilize the existing shell and floor plates of the building while clearing out all interior components, besides structural supports, egress staircases and elevator shafts. The end product was a state-of-the-art self-storage facility boasting accessibility throughout the facility, safety, and security. We worked closely with the building department to clear violations, and performed code review evaluations to ensure compliance with New York State’s building code regulations. An addition was constructed to provide a new lobby with a universal entrance, access to elevators and modern user points of sale. Our team consisted of Architects, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Electrical Engineers, a wide variety of talented trades, project planning, municipal approvals, project management and success coordination.  VanGuard Website : www.vanguardstorage123.com
